And Glühwein or other hot adult drinks.
Any hot or warm snacks might go a long ways, too.
I remember layaway fairly well. The great thing was that there was a small fee at worst, no interest charged.
It really needs to come back. It’s far better than putting someone in interest laden debt. But debt is profitable.
Cheese is our preferred ADHD snack.

I could find no source for the OP post other than the linked popup “news” site.
Fuller is more recently quoted as saying the “recession” (the market downturn due to trump’s idiotic knee-jerk tariff implementation) is over and expecting a market change.
Dude’s an idiot, just another CEO analyst always trying to put a positive spin on any negative event to do with his industry.
That’s the same logic people use to remove things like sex ed, discussion of lgbtq, or even racism use.
If we don’t talk about the thing then it won’t happen, or, if we talk about the thing then the kids will want to or know how to do it.
DARE was pretty stupid, though. And i’m sure I have a DARE labeled pencil or two in the bottom of a box somewhere still.

I still have CDs of old games. I can install and play the base version if they only require the code on the back of the jewel case. Some even allow private servers for multiplayer.
New ones? DRM, licensing servers, gameservers, download sources…as they disappear, so do the games because nobody can play them.
Please see the post I offered in response that shows research indicating Yersina Pestis was killing humans in Europe and Asia well before the mass plagues.

There is some brolegal advice (brolegal because I can’t verify it other than people talking about it on the internet) that suggests hard locking your phone may prevent access by LEO. IOW forcing the phone to require a code entry to unlock it by resetting/power off/on the phone so that faceID and fingerprint no longer work.

I’ll offer that humans were dying of Yersina Pestis in Europe before the well-known outbreaks of The Plague.
RememberTheApollo_@lemmy.worldto No Stupid Questions@lemmy.world•The USA spends $15k/student annually which is 30% higher than the global median. Why do U.S. schools have "fundraisers" where kids are incentivized to sell stuff to people?2·1 day agoThere are some that blame administration costs, which is correct because of the multiple layers of redundancy in US schools - each district has its own administration, plus more at the state level - but some also blame the rising costs of benefits.
The latter seems far more of a right wing target because they attack the employee getting benefits, not the insurance companies jacking up the costs of benefits like health or life insurance.
It’s covered in sugar and made with a bunch of sugar. Of course it’s American!
Anyway, here’s a decent recipe if anyone wants to know what they look like or wants to make them.
Never had one? It’s a somewhat common cookie variety that’s similar to a sugar cookie and has a cinnamon sugar topping.
Tarps, tent, flys, cleaning coolers and drying them too, re-packing everything in storage if camping isn’t a regular event…yeah. It’s fun, but there’s a reason it’s not super common for most people.
Next, on Threads and FB Reels, a clip of the man being beaten, out of context, and people openly making racist statements.
For me, camping is fun the day after I get home and have already had a shower, a good sleep, and put everything away.

Especially in something that people already have a very hard time taking seriously like driving where cell phone distraction, conversations, or just zoning out is super common.
Why would it be weird?
It would only be weird today in a modern western country because of the rarity and available medical treatment being unsuccessful. It was not any different historically from other diseases centuries ago that lacked treatment or understanding. There was nothing weird about it.

Yeah, but that was back in the day when if you wanted some things they could take weeks or more than a month to have it ordered and shipped to you. It was all snail mail and next day prime delivery didn’t exist for the average person. Logistics and shipping were a lot slower. So if you paid layaway for a month you could get the double benefit of payments and not needing to wait for an order to come in. IOW you could save up for a month and then order and get your item a month after that, or “claim” an item now and make the payments.
